Cannot Use AVG on Surface 1

I was trying to get an anti-virus on my surface but it keeps saying it is not compatible with my device.
what is free I can use to work? which would you prefer? that I will have less troubles with, as well as notifications I hate having those on the daily.

I use the built-in Windows Defender on my Home Machines....We use System Center EndPoint Protection at work (not free, its part of the Microsoft System Center Suite).
