Close Apps

you have to swipe your finger from top of the screen to the bottom and the app looks like it goes down but thats just an animation of it closing

That doesn't actually close the app. completely. If you check the task manager you will still see it, as active.

You don't really need to do it to free up memory -- Windows will close the apps to free up the memory as needed. These are not the same as classic Windows desktop apps.

The swipe-down gesture does actually close the app. It may take a moment for it to disappear from task manager. You might continue to see some apps in Task Manager even when they're closed if they are set to run in the background (they ask for permission), or system apps, etc.
