Firewire connection

I have a Canopus ADVC 110 for converting analog film to digital. the converter uses the standard 6 pin fire wire connection for output, what connection port do I use on the surface pro....USB? thanks

Welcome, @ironhead , to the forum.

You would need a Firewire to USB adapter, which you can buy for about US$5. I don't know whether your Firewire end is male or female, but the DVD would need to be male.

However, your issue would be what software to use for recording the streaming video (which would be asynchronous). Search the Web for "How to Record Streaming Video to DVD", or the like.
