HOW TO RETREIVE YOUR CURRENT WINDOWS BACKGROUND IMAGE

Sometimes it is convenient to set your Windows Desktop Background (wallpaper) image directly from a photo folder, a webpage, an email attachment, or other means. But then you may want to also save that image to a folder of your own, such as your own wallpaper collection. You may also want to email the picture, or post it on social media, etc.

Here is how to obtain a copy of your desktop background without the taskbar, icons, or any other content:

1) Right-click Desktop, New, Text Document
2) Paste in this line:
Code:
Copy %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Themes\TranscodedWallpaper %USERPROFILE%\Desktop\CurrentBackground.jpg
3. Save as (All Files) GetMyBack.bat

This creates a Windows Batch File "GetMyBack.bat". Use any name you prefer. The batch file can be moved stored anywhere you prefer.

To run, double-click on GetMyBack.bat .
Your current background image will be saved to your Desktop, where you can then attach to email, save to a folder you prefer, post on social media, or send to your photo or image editor of choice. The image will be converted to .jpg automatically, regardless of its native filetype.

The line above also works as a DOS command.

- Enjoy!
