The SP3 is heating up significantly. When I charge the tablet and am reading things (or working on it) the top right hand side, is getting too warm in my feeling. I do not dare the charge the tablet while laying on its back on flammable material.

The fan is working but it appears that it is not cooling the CPU enough.

Welcome to the forum JB.

I'm moving 2 of your posts from the welcome section to the Windows 10 section for the SP3

The SP3 Thermal Protection kicks in at 90 degrees C, at that point it will throttle the CPU, if it gets over 90 it will shut down and if you attempt to power up while over the threshold you'll receive a thermometer icon the screen. If you've not seen this happen then ur SP3 is functioning as designed.

Keep in mind that the SP3 is a Haswell Ultrabook in tablet form factor.
