I do have a Windows 8.1 phone but you can use The Band with other phones ( no Blackberry yet). I don't wear a watch but if I did, the Band would have replaced it. It's more comfortable and easier to read if you wear it under your arm as seen in the attached photo. I do want to let you know that there is a new area on this forum dedicated to the MS Band. I picked it up last Saturday at a local MS store. They sold out the first day. I was impressed but not overly. It's growing on me as I catch the clips of new emails, news, etc on my wrist. I'm alerted via vibration. The display is surprisingly easy to read. You can scroll to read a few lines of email or messages that come in. I like that I don't have to grab the phone out of my pocket all of the time.
It has 10 sensors. A few that I'll mention or GPS, touch screen, & heart rate. It's interesting how it evaluates my sleep. It knows when I wake up to go to the bathroom. I get a pretty thorough report of how I slept on my cell phone. Yes, you will find yourself getting up in the middle of the night as you get older. I like the fact that more applications will be forth coming so I not only have an wearable computer that will do certain things out of the box but it will have more that it can do down the road. And yes, I'm a microcomputer support specialist for LHM. That's my work desktop on the left and an external monitor and my Surface to the right of it. I've found several themes and background screens from Microsoft that are available for download. You can get them right from your Personalization tab. I've actually just been looking at the 360. I think I want the steel band version.
I like mine and the updates have made it even better, I am backing the SteelConnect Kickstarter for the ability to switch bands. I originally liked the stele bands but the ones it is going to retail with do not match the ones in the original teasers. One thing is the Moto needs to be charged pretty much nightly, not sure about this MS band.
One charge on the band will pretty much last 48 hours. It depends on how many apps you setup on the Band. It looks to me that mine is going to last more than 48 hours. I've been monitoring my sleep. I'll probably stop doing that every night and charge it over night now and than. BTW, I did test voice input and that works pretty well. I just feel a little funny talking to my hand. Doubt that I will do that too much in public, less they think I'm with the CIA or FBI. For those of you who remember, Dick Tracy's technology has definitely arrived.
