    People here know that I'm always talking about the fact Win32 Applications wreck havoc on battery life and most of the time I feel like a lone voice in the wilderness, well to back up my own observations I give you PCWorld's comparison of popular Media Players impact on battery life:

    Tested: VLC vs. Windows 10 video player. The winner may surprise you.

    You'll notice the WinRT Application provides the best performance for battery life.

    Now you know why my battery life is 6.5 hours under heavy use and 9-14 under normal use.
