Has anyone connected a monitor/TV via the display port using a third party adapter yet? There are many out there that are cheaper than the MS store offering. I am wondering if there are any compatibility issues with third party adapters.

This has been discussed before, but nevertheless, this is what I use-

Surface end (micro HDMI *not* mini HDMI):

    HDTV end (standard HDMI, full-size):

I've done it. Monoprice.com best prices.

Actually, I was referring to the mini display port on the Surface Pro, not the mini-HDMI port on the RT.

    Sorry for that.

It is the same used by Apple, so there will be lots of aftermarket replacements.

Thanks for the info. I will get one if and when the Pro becomes available. :)

I opted for a StarTech multi-port adapter. It's a little big, but I can plug HDMI, DVI, and DisplayPort into it. Looks great on a big screen TV or a traditional monitor.

    Rocketfish? - Mini Display Port-to-HDMI Adapter - RF-AP305 | Rocketfish

I have this one..... it sucks. It's pretty loose, so I have to connect/reconnect a few times to get it work, and then occasionally while watching or movie or something, it'll disconnect. Bought it for $10 so it's not a big loss, but I'm gonna get another one when I get the chance.

Unfortunately, I use the one sold at the Microsoft store. Paid full price. Works flawlessly.
