My SP3 going to sleep. Connected standby?

I notice that when ii leave my sp3 on my table for several hours, when I get back to it, i don't get the instant on. It goes thru the surface boot screen first.

Is it really booting up? Sorry for my ignorance I had a surface RT before this and am new to how the Pro line works.

Wonder how it will get my email if it goes to sleep on me. Isn't þa what connected standby is for?

IIRC - Connected Standby is for 4 hours (S0iX) then from 4-12 Hours it goes into a modified Hibernate (2-3 Seconds to resume) After that it enters a deeper hibernation state that can last up to a year....
