The 'recovery partition' will allow me to restore the SP3 back to its original configuration BUT how can I get a copy of Acronis True Image 2015 which I have created Ok to load back in so that I have a system updated to what it was when I made the image - including all my additional programs that I have loaded.

Thank you for your reply. I thought I had searched the forums fully but obviously missed this one.

All I had found in my searches across the net were comments on all the problems getting the Surface to boot from a USB because of the move away from a 'normal' BIOS.

    Thanks again
