Solved Unable to pick up iPhone hotspot unless Itunes running!

Hi

First up apologies if this has already been discussed, I am new here!

Just purchased a Surface Pro 3, and when out and about wanted to connect to the internet via my iPhone personal hotspot - wifi.

For some unknown reason the Surface would pick up any other wi fi networks but would not display my iphone wifi. I checked this out and someone mentioned downloading iTunes to the Surface as that might solve it (not a problem as was about to download iTunes in any case).

Now my Surface is able to connect to my personal hotspot wifi but only when iTunes is open.

Can anyone explain this for me please!

Sorted! Apparently the Surface won't pic up a network which has a space in the username. I just changed the username on my iPhone to a single work with no space and voila!

As an aside, that is a common problem with some other tablets as well.

I still find it odd that with iTunes open on the Surface the space in the iPhone username wasn't an issue, but with iTunes closed on the Surface the space deemed the network absent. But then I shouldn't really be surprised!

Did you try enclosing it in quotes? "space user"
