When is it the Surface and when is it Windows 10?

I have a SB and have had significant issues with Office 2013 and 2016 regarding speed, crashing, toolbar vanishing. My first instinct is to blame the SB, but given that Windows 10 is equally new I wonder if some of my issues are Win10 issues...

Which makes me think, how do we know if it is a Windows issue or a Hardware/Firmware issue?

This forum is a good place to sort out the problem.

I am a very intense Office user with a Surface Book and Windows 10, and do not have these issues.

Might also be Office, especially if you have 2013 and 2016 both installed.

From your explanation I'd say Office is the issue. You may be in the old DLL hell spot. There was another recent thread where the user uninstalled Office, did a disk cleanup and reinstalled it and it cleared the Office issues up

Hardware either works or it doesn't work. You can't break a piece of hardware that would then make a Toolbar disappear. Therefore, it is a software issue. Software includes Windows 10 and Office.

This may be extreme, but I guarantee, if you reset Windows and reinstall Office it will be better.
