Tablet Version of Microsoft Office Coming to Android Before Windows 8 Tablets

That's hardly the same thing. But go ahead and offer that rely... :) it is inexcusable in my opinion for Microsoft to release a touch version of Office before their providing one for their own tablet OS.

Tablet Version of Microsoft Office Coming to Android Before Windows 8 Tablets

This is the type of behavior by Microsoft is what I've been rallying against. And I think that it might reveal a few things that some may not want to hear. Maybe Microsoft was not as committed to the Modern UI as they publicly proclaim. Perhaps the internal churn on the Modern UI APIs has...

    Rethinking MSFT's Strategy

That is one of the games that I play the most on my iPad 4/iCade/iMame setup. Exactly like the old days... except not emptying my pocket of quarters. :)

    Anybody else considering the i3?

Primarily it is cost. I think that your plan to get a Broadwell-based SP3 is a good one. That's when I'll think about getting one. But buying an SP2 now only to sell it in 6 months is not wise IMO. Surface devices don't hold their value. You're going to lose a few $100 between now and then...

    Anybody else considering the i3?

Sounds like a plan... but if you need a device between now and then, I wouldn't advise on buying an SP2. I'd suggest buying an inexpensive 11"-12" notebook. Asus makes a few models that sell for a fraction of what an SP2 sells for.

Seattle Children's Hospital is replacing their Laptops with Surface Pro 3 Devices

When I flip my TypeCover behind my Surface 2, I end up detaching it, flipping it over and reattaching it for 2 reasons: 1) Repeated bending back and forward (forward to close, backward with keys out to hold as a tablet) adds additional stress to the hinge/crease on the keyboard. 2) Protects the...

    Rethinking MSFT's Strategy

Thank you for that stroll down memory lane. :) During my career at IBM I spent many a year developing for and supporting their PS/2 line. Oh, and whenever a new wave of MCA cards were produced, the BIOS on those machines needed to be updated via a Reference Disk. I won't tell you how much hair...

    Rethinking MSFT's Strategy

I know that my thinking is in the minority here (and other Microsoft forums) but "rebooting" a line in a highly competitive market is the kiss of death. Microsoft did that very thing with the Zune (and with Windows Phone). Each generation of device offered technically superior hardware, but...

    Rethinking MSFT's Strategy

What you posted makes sense. I disagree with some of it, but it is certainly well considered and I appreciate that. I think with the introduction of the SP3, Microsoft gained a victory on the hardware side, but a loss on the marketing side. Microsoft took a fragmented and confusing mess known...

[Rumor] Stephen Elop May Have Killed the Microsoft Surface Mini Idea

Why not? Because the lower screen size and target price for such a device would put the Surface Mini significantly out of the target price. In the Rethinking Microsoft Strategy thread on 5/24 I mentioned that with Microsoft reducing the license fee for Windows 8.1 to expect to see 8" tablets...

Microsoft Officially Unveils the Surface Pro 3

You seem to dismiss the importance of those initial marketing choices made by Microsoft. It set the stage for all of the confusion that followed. To this day Microsoft continues to keep confusion alive. On the Microsoft Store, Under "Surface Accessories" is listed a "Surface Pen". It is...

Microsoft Officially Unveils the Surface Pro 3

Stupid consumers?! wow. I guess Microsoft has no responsibility in creating the state of confusion. :(

[Rumor] Stephen Elop May Have Killed the Microsoft Surface Mini Idea

errr.... no. There's a market for a iOS tablet in a mini form factor... because there is only one. If anyone wants a mini iOS tablet it is the iPad mini or nothing. With Windows, there is the Dell Venue Pro 8 for $210. There's the Toshiba and a few others at $220-$250. A person interested...

    Rethinking MSFT's Strategy

Interesting. I'm seeing plenty of discussion and buzz about the Surface Pro 3 in places that are hostile towards anything Microsoft. In my opinion, Microsoft has fired a shot across the bow of the S.S. Cupertino and some of their fans are now scratching their heads wondering what just happened...

Surface pro 3 will have an i5-4300U processor, should I wait for the i7?

Or wait another 7 months and get the SP4. :)
