Not helpful for your situation but when I bought mine from staples they were doing promo for accidental insurance. If I don't use it in 2 years I get full reimbursement of the insurance. it's a no risk win win :-)

It was actually very easy to install. The fit is very very close to perfect so you just take your time to line it up and it lays itself on their very flat, never had issues with bubbles or creases or anything.

Don't notice much difference honestly. Maybe my eyes are getting used to the high ppi of the surface screen? at home I have a 24" 120hz benq at 1080 and don't have this same issue.

I haven't. Haven't heard of that actually. Just went through the process to select what looked best. Does it require a reboot to apply? It didn't mention. I did turn the contrast way down which has helped some.

you might try hibernate then instead if you can spare the HDD space. I set my power button to hibernate so when i go i just poke the button and toss it in my bag. Works perfectly. -Luke
