notification sounds whilst sleeping

Hello I am loving my new surface laptop, burgundy. Pleased to see the upgrade to Windows 10 Pro was still free (22nd June 2018). Does anyone know if it is possible to have notification sounds, on say the arrival of an email, when the Surface Laptop is sleeping? Lid closed, screen gone blank...
