I remember I had trouble registering mine at first - but after a few weeks it cleared up. Have you bought yours recently? I'm guessing the problem might be that the serial numbers of manufactured units don't necessarily make it into Microsoft's database right away, and therefore can't be verified. You might want to leave it a while and then try again.
