Has anyone solved the slow SSD issue on Surface Book 2?

I have the 512G model and considering swapping to the 1TB as people are reporting 20% faster speed.

Here are some specifics from numbers i've compiled:

Surface Book 1TB v Surface Book 2 512g:

= 27% faster on sequential reads and 87% faster on writes
= 2% slower on 4KiB Q32T1 reads and 13% faster on writes
= 7% slower on 4KiB Q32T1 reads and 18% slower on writes
= No change on 4KiB Q1T1 reads and 31% slower on writes

Samsung PM961 512g v Surface Book 2 512g

= 73% faster on sequential reads and 131% faster on writes
= 110% faster on 4KiB Q32T1 reads and 250% faster on writes
= 100% faster on 4KiB Q32T1 reads and 39% faster on writes
= 39% faster on 4KiB Q1T1 reads and 82% faster on writes

Samsung 960 Pro 512g v Surface Book 2 512g:

= 86% faster on sequential reads and 225% faster on writes
= 93% faster on 4KiB Q32T1 reads and 374% faster on writes
= 144% faster on 4KiB Q32T1 reads and 50% faster on writes
= 37% faster on 4KiB Q1T1 reads and 87% faster on writes

Has anyone managed to get decent performance from it? Its way slower than the PM961 or Samsung 960 Pro

The lack of response is probably more indicative of people not having encountered the issue, hence no "me too" or "solution" posts.

I think you need a special use case to see the performance difference. Unfortunately as a database coder, thats me

Just out of curiosity what SSD (brand/model) do you have?

I saw a comment somewhere that turning off the write cache actually speed it up which is a bit counter intuitive. I have no idea if that really works or if it only works running the benchmark or not at all.

Me 2, today, I tested it, the speed is 18MB/s ....... Not sure if it was because yesterday after I reset the machine, and turn-off bitlocker, and turn it back on again.

Have you tried downloading and installing the latest Samsung NVM Drivers? Here is a screen shot of the installation / repair of the software on my machine. I noticed a definite positive performance spike in my machine after installing it. See Pic - Hope this helps. If you cannot find the file for download - message me and I will send you a link or the file itself zipped up, in an email.
