Improving SSD performance

Seems like Samsung Magican 4.7 has a firmware update for the mSata 840 evo, which is the same as our PM851 right?

I downloaded the new Magician 4.7, but it does not show a firmware update available. Has anyone tried manually updating their SP3 to EXT43B6Q?

How it's possible to update firmware without Magician?

It isn't but there is a section in the Magician software to tell you if there is an update.

When I open Magician there is 3 item disk management section on the left and the 3rd item is Firmware Update.

I know this, the problem is that firmware update "link" is grayed out.
For this reason I was askin an alternative way to update firmware...

Mine is the same, took it mean there is no upgrade for the drive's frimware.
I have this Samsung drive MZMTE128HMGR-000MV

Checked PC - 3 Samsung drives - update link not grayed out - shows firmware version of each drives and states it is the latest firmware.
Check laptop - 2 Samsung drives - same results as PC.

Maybe the "grayed out" is unique to the Pro 3 ?

This is a job for Microsoft... often OEM drives are subtly different so the regular tools may not work correctly. Bottom line is the drive firmware should get pushed out to every surface applicable and that should come from MS working with vendors as appropriate so the right firmware is loaded.

I'm thinking that the Magician wasn't designed for the type of drive in the Surface. Not that it won't do everything else. I also doubt the firmware being discussed here was intended for that drive either.

It will be interesting to see if Magician shows any future updates for some of the Samsung drives in the Pro 3.
