Can only connect to 2.4GHz wifi band, 5GHz is not recognised on my SurfacePro. Latest drivers are installed. Any suggestions, please?

Welcome to the forum.

The assumption is that you are on 8.1 since you didn't post this in the Windows 10 section for the Surface Pro.

Did it ever work, how long ago, what has changed?

@deejay55

Seems your complaint is after upgrading to Windows 10.
Go to the device manager and remove the Avastar network adapter. Then do a reboot from cold. Let us know if that solves the issue.

Thank you, sharpcolorado. To remove the network adaptor would I hit the Uninstall button in the Driver tab? - I am not technical, wanted to check before I do any damage.

Yes, sir. Uninstall on the driver tab. See you on the other side...

Wonderful.

Something about that AVASTAR modem. Sometimes it hangs on hardy and fast to previous software, even when drivers or firmware is upgraded. By removing it and allowing Windows to sort things out, you get a fresh configuration.

Marking solved.
