Strike a good deal while they are smarting from losing the Samsung S6 :) good move.

but the 810 is wasted on a phone, it should be in a tablet.

They seem to be having overheating problems with the existing 810. Hope they have figured it out. Probably made them a deal they couldn't refuse. ;)

Hmm, overheating may be specific to certain *code* running on the device :) LG claims there is no heat issue with the 810. Perhaps in their experience that is true and it just so happens that their specific code or lack of additional code ( sans Touch Whizz [sic]) doesn't encounter the issues the Samsung code does. :)

It's also possible the "overheating" issues were simply fabricated by Samsung to discredit Qualcomm so that Samsung can get a leg-up in the market with their next-gen Exynos chips. LG never specifically stated that the problems they had with the first batch of Snapdragon 810 chips was a heating issue. From the get-go LG has defended Qualcomm.
