Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter?

I was looking at a picture of the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter and it looks like it has a HDMI connection and a USB connector on the end of the cable.

Do you have to connect to the Surface with a cable from it to the TV?
Does it plug into a USB port on the TV?
What plugs into the HDMI connector?

The hdmi connector provides the signal to the TV, the usb connector is for power only. If your TV has a usb port you can use that for power or connect to any other usb power source/adapter.

Thanks for the quick response

My TV does have a USB port but I'm not sure where it is and if it is close enough but I suppose it could use a regular USB cable to extend it if necessary.

that's why they give you an adapter with it in case it isn't long enough...
