Solved Midi Keyboard Issues

Don't know if this is the right place for a question like this but I figure I'll ask anyway.

I just got a Surface Pro 3 and am trying to hookup my digital piano. I know the software and midi cable are functional because they worked with my old laptop. No matter what software I try (Noteworthy, Finale composer, Notation composer) the software won't pickup the signals from the keyboard.

Any advice on what to do to fix this?

(The device manager does show a USB MIDI device.)

I will be connecting a MIDI controller (AKAI MPK49) to my SP3 the first week of January. Not expecting problems - Will let you know. I use Noteworthy.

Sorry you are having trouble.

@Sentient,

Here is a solution for your problem. Microsoft recognized that MIDI had problems with the Surface/Surface Pro and USB 3.0. The USB 2.0 worked fine.

The remedy was included in an August 2014 driver rollup.

You can verify that you have this problem, and fix it.
See here.

When you get this resolved, write back so others can be helped, too.

Thanks a ton! I ran through all the steps and had the problem they described. All I did to fix it was run windows update. This was a brand new tablet from Best Buy so it had lots of updates to install. Thanks again!
