Modern App Licensing

Hi Guys,

Trying to find some official documentation and struggling! I know that a single Microsoft account can be registered on about 80 devices. I also seem to recall that you can install any paid app on upto 5 of those devices.

I am trying to find guidance on the procedure to install a paid app on 30 tablets that use the same Microsoft ID. With other tablets the official method is to buy 1 copy of the app for each tablet, I assume a similar rule applies. The issue then is how do you go about this? Apple has a volume Licencing program to aid this sort of situation. Does anyone know if MS has a similar system?

Check with your Licensing Service Provider on how to use your EA for Modern UI Apps (if it isn't enabled currently I know its coming).

I think MS changed the policy to 81 devices, back when WP 8.1 was announced.

The apps can be installed on 5 then on the 6th device you get prompted to buy it again.

The school in question doesnt have an EA at the moment.

Then it looks like you'll need to buy 6 copies of the App... which sounds fair to the developer.
