N-Trig WinTab Drivers Available

Won't the sp3 already come with n-trig drivers?

1. Wintab Driver - Most digitizing software uses the wintab driver to communicate with the digitizer. The Wintab driver is a Windows driver that turns the digitizer into a mouse input device for the computer. Moving the pen stylus or cursor on the digitizer moves the mouse pointer on the screen. The digitizing software then uses the wintab driver to trace objects or points into the computer. A very few digitizing programs do not use the wintab driver and communicate directly with the digitizer.

Just looked up what wintab drivers are but it seems kind of redundant from what the pen normally does. Can someone help explain this to me, possibly in layman's terms lol

WinTab Drivers enable pressure sensitivity in applications that rely on them. Photoshop, ZBrush, Mudbox, Sketchbook Pro, etc...

While some other applications that have pressure sensitivity rely on Microsoft's N-trig drivers. OneNote, FreshPaint, etc. Just want to be clear that pressure sensitivity is not a capability that is unique to the WinTab drivers...

But the SP3 *should* already come with the necessary drivers, etc., to make the digitizer function properly with all apps?

Just curious in what scenario you would need to install the Wintab driver...?

Legacy Win32 Creative Programs mostly produced by Adobe who first created the WinTab Driver Reference with Wacom, so Photoshop, Flash and other Adobe Products, also Sketchbook and a few others...

That's right. Windows 8 support it's own ink API which programs can use. This allows consistent pen experience between programs and full support no matter the pen technology you use with the device.

Looks like this WinTab driver only works for Photoshop. Programs like ZBrush, Mudbox, Maya, etc... don't work with pressure sensitivity with this driver.
