Office 365 2016 Apps keep randomly crashing

Question: I have a few Surface Pro 4’s on Windows 10 in our environment that keep having Office 365 2016 apps randomly crash multiple times during the work day. The behavior is random and it is Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint that crash. Office 365 requires .Net framework 3.5 but when I try to turn on the .Net framework feature on these SP4’s I get an error message
"Windows couldn't complete the requested changes. Windows couldn't find the request changes. Make sure you're to the Internet and try again.
Error code: 0x800F081F"

Do not get this error message when I turn on this feature with Lenovo laptops and Dell desktops that are on Windows 10 and Office 16 apps. Any recommendations or solutions?

I assume you mean Symantec Endpoint Protection. Is your Symantec being controlled by policies on a server/domain and is the firewall turned on. It's not easy to completely disable (all) the components and functions just by clicking disable. If it's being controlled by a server it's nearly impossible. Everything I see points to your problem coming from a firewall.

You may want to try uninstalling Office, do a disk cleanup and try installing again.

I've tried uninstalling office, disk cleanup and reinstall . The user is still complaining about Outlook crashing. It is just really weird because I am only having this issue with users on Surface Pro 4's.

Could it be something with .Net Framework feature being off? I looked at Office 365 requirements and .NET framework 3.5 is required. I tried to turn it on with a SP4 with no Symantec Endpoint Protection installed and still got the same Error code: 0x800F081F

Try these command at an admin command prompt
dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth
dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

Also this if that doesn't work.
Dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFx3 /All /Source:C:\sources\sxs /LimitAccess

Hi,
the scan health command was completed successfully. The second command went to 100% and gave me this error message: "Error: 0x800f081f The source files could not be found. Use the "Source" option to specify the location of the files that are required to restore the feature. For more information on specifying a source location, see http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=234077. The DISM log file can be found at C:\WINDOWS\ Logs\DISM\dism.log"

Thanks for the help. Tried the .NET framework 3.5 Service pack 1 (Full package) earlier and that failed but the stand alone .NET 3.5 installed successfully. Very weird though I go into programs and features to turn on the feature and check the windows communication foundation folders beneath it but still gives me the same error message as before.

There comes a time when so may changes are made, (been there and done that), that the changes pile up to no good. Time for a refresh or reset.
