So... I definitely plan on purchasing one of the above devices but only one... its going to be a tough decision. What are your opinions and which one are you all getting? Or are you sticking with your current solution or eyeing something else entirely?

The only thing the iPad Pro is good for now compared to these is as a Frisbee or cheese tray. :D

What he said, to be honest I think you can't really go wrong, just set your budget. For me GPU isn't important enough for the price so it'll be i5 SP4.

I'm getting either a SP4 or Surface Book but it seems like I'm not understanding something.

The Surface Book appears to have a bigger screen with more resolution, more battery life and a keyboard, yet it weighs less than SP4 with a smaller screen, less battery life and no keyboard.

How can this be?

A sp4 vs a surface book versus an Apple. Just as relevant a comparison as an iPad pro.

They are completely different class machines.

The tech specs on the website are incomplete at the moment for the Surface Book. The entire thing, tablet and keyboard weighs in at 3.48lbs. The tablet alone is 1.6lbs which is lighter than the SP4, but it has no kickstand and virtually no ports, hence the weight savings.

Full tech specs here.

Keep in mind they are billing the Book as a laptop first, tablet second. You shouldn't need a USB port on the tablet portion. It comes as a package.

SP4 quoted at 9 hours battery life. Wasn't this the same figure used for the SP3? If so, shouldn't we see a better bump in battery life moving to the 6th gen processor even though the screen is .3" larger?

Higher resolution screen and slightly thinner overall. The CPU only consumes a fraction of the total device power, so given those other changes, sounds about right.
