Rotation when Waking from Sleep

I tend to keep my rotation lock on all the time. One issue I've noticed lately is that if put the computer to sleep and then change the orientation, typically vertical for a backback, the screen is rotated to that orientation when it wakes from sleep. The only solution is to manually rotate the screen or to detach the screen and disable rotation lock.

Is this normal behavior or just something I have to live with?
