It would seem the key you saved is likely the cause of your trouble, it should have gone to a removable media.

Possibility it may have been in a folder that was replicated to OneDrive?

But not your EFS or third party encryption key, only the Device Encryption key is backed up in your online account.


Yes thats why i posted the link it explains under what conditions the key is backed up online. If you enable bitlocker yourself (not device encryption) its your responsibility to backup your keys. If you used efs and didn't backup your cert its your problem. You need to put your big boy pants on and take responsibility. .
