Strange Pen Issue

Just today in a couple of situations the pen stopped inking. However pressing the button still brought up One Note. Just wouldn't recognise the tip, either as a click or display my scrawling.

Happened while using One Note the first time, and PowerPoint the second time. A reboot fixed it, but I would rather not have the issue.

Solutions and idea's on resolving this would be much appreciated.

Same thing happened to me on Sunday. Additionally, the right rear part of the tablet started heating up with no increase in processor use. Speaking with Microsoft, I had to perform the following steps - unpair the pen from bluetooth, delete the pen in device manager under Bluetooth -> Surface Pen. Reboot, then go to System updates and check for anything new. Then pair the pen again.
