Surface 3 Charging/Dock Question

If you look at a dock it has no micro USB connector.

I'll have to check that out tomorrow (its at the office). But that would explain a lot....

UPDATE: You were 100% correct. The Dock has no micro USB port at all. So MS is powering the S3 in the dock via some other mechanism (which I assume is the full size USB port). However it works, it definitely charges faster than the external Micro USB adapter.

I have been trying to dig up some information on this to create a faster charging system.

If anyone has high resolution photos of the S3 motherboard or the pcb in the dock I can get a better idea of what they are doing. Photos of the board in the dock would be the most useful though but I have not been able to find any.

I wrap thin paper around mini DP port on dock to block it. The charge light did not come on and the S3 does not show charging
