Surface Dock and USB C charging

I was wondering if it was possible to use the Surface Dock while at the same plugging in a USB C charger like the one that works with the Macbook Pro? Would it provide the extra juice while under load and it does work, is that a safe option?

Once you've plugged in the Surface Dock, USB-C charging is disabled.
