Surface Pro 2

I have a detachable key board I bought for my surface pro2. It stopped working. I have reset back to original settings numerous times. It will let you log on with your user name and password, but as soon as the metro tiles and desktop load it will no longer work. I am baffled because it will work when you do a factory reset, let you type all info needed but as soon as metro tiles load up it stops working. Any help would be appreciated.
