USB Mic Low Volume

Since moving to my SP3 I've noted that my trusty wireless USB microphone is capturing audio at a much lower level than previously. I've tried adjusting the capture controls without much success.

I'm reading on various sites that in Windows 8.1 the USB audio drivers can be problematic. A lot of people have solved their problems by updating the USB audio drivers particular to their system.

Has anyone seen this problem with their SP3? Any solutions?

That's a new topic I haven't heard talked about. Sorry but I haven't tried mic input recording yet on any of my Surfaces. Is the recording still usable by turning up the volume. I do know that different computer frequently don't have the same amplitude level of recording.
