Want to Remove Ads from Xbox Video App

We will not be connecting to the Store or downloading the videos. We want the pre-loaded Xbox Video App to only show our personal video files, and want to remove all the other Xbox ads and stuff.

How can we do that?

Review firewall logs, determine what servers are connected to when you run the app and block those in your firewall. :)

Of course better yet, configure the Apps to go directly to your collection from the settings menu and you'll never see the splash screen.

Thanks for the suggestions!

We will be offline most of the time, but the ads still appear offline. How do we configure the apps to go directly to our collection from the settings menu? We have turned off most everything in Settings/Apps but don't see configure.

I'm not running Windows 8.x anywhere...running Windows 10 on all of my devices, but it was in the Settings Preferences IIRC

OK - Finally found the Settings/Preferences. Then, toggled the Startup view app settings from on to off. When we opened the Video app after doing this, the ads were gone - YAY!

But then when we opened it again, they were back - BOO!

It appears that the ads come back after the initial opening of the file, so are not permanently removed. And, if you tap the 'home' button on the upper left of the app it goes to the ads page, not to your personal videos.

We also tried logging out of MS account, and closing the Video app in Task Manager. The ads still appear even when we are offline.

This tablet is being setup for a relative who is always offline and only wants to look at their own videos - not have to wade through store ads.

Anyone have any other thoughts on how to permanently hide/remove the store ads?
