What's the best USB 3.0 HUB for Surface Pro 3?

I'm looking for one that is reliable and preferably doesn't require an external power supply. Also, if it has a card reader that also reads formats like CF cards, that would be great too!

Think you might be forced to use a powered hub unless you plan on only using 1 or 2 devices at a time. I use a generic passive hub, and i have to switch out dongles just to get my memory stick working.

I agree with the suggestion that you purchase a powered HUB. Some will work without the power but it's nice to have it if you need it. It depends on the power draw requirements of the devices connected to it

Battery life on the SP3 is a high priority, therefore the amount of output from the USB port is limited, by design. As mentioned above, you should definitely shoot for a powered hub.

and am having an issue where the devices connected to it would suddenly cycle from being active to disconnecting to reconnecting. Is this a power save feature? If so, I would need the connected devices to stay active all the time. Are there settings within the Surface Pro 3 I can change to get this to work? Has anyone experienced this?

That seemed to have worked. Might seem obvious to me now, but at the time I thought the power supply was there just to have the USB ports able to charge other devices. Since I have it plugged in, I haven't had any issues disconnecting
