Solved When scrolling, screen turns blank

Hi guys,

My Surface 3 started this week to do something weird.

When I scroll in a page using either 2 fingers on the keyboard trackpad or the screen directly, the screen turns black. I'm not sure it turns off. When I touch any keyboard key, it lights up and goes back to the lock screen.

I tried rebooting. I tried without the keyboard which is worse because the screen keeps going black.

I read many "screen turns blank" issues on the 'Net but thing quite like my issue.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

JFS.

It sounds like a loose connection to the keyboard.

Try using it in Tablet Mode (no keyboard). Same effect?

Strange. Very strange. Maybe a case of the ghost in the machine.

Doing research on this issue I found some place something that said to reboot by holding the side button for about 10-15 seconds. At first I just rebooted through Windows, not the hardware.

Well now all is fine after a "hard" reset.

Sorry to bother you guys,

JFS.

Excellent.

Here are the instructions for a Cold Boot, which you just accomplished:

COLD BOOT

1) Press and hold Power button for 25 seconds. Do not release early, despite the screen or keyboard going dark. Then release.
2) Press and hold Power and Volume Up buttons until you see the Surface logo. Release.
3) UEFI screen will be shown. Exit/Save without making changes. Allow your Surface device to restart.
