I'm interested in learning the capabilities regarding driving external monitors. A Best Buy salesman told me that I can drive "many" high resolution external monitors by chaining them via the mini display port. I saw a video where someone was driving four monitors but using some kind of docking station. Is there a complete spec anywhere?

I don't own a surface (yet) and won't until I get this question resolved.

Thanks,
Gary

Holy crap. I thought after reading Nuspieds post about using a Dell u3014 DP1.2 montior, I'd check Amazon and maybe purchase a couple. Those montors cost more than a SP2 128gig computer. Not going to happen anytime soon for me. I'll wait until a pair of 24" of DP1.2 monitors sell for about $150 to $200 each.

thanks

You can certainly chain 'many' monitors off the SP2, no docking station required. To chain more than one the monitors will have to support displayport 1.2. The number of monitors you can chain depends on what resolutions you are running.

Also have a look at this thread for information specific to the SP2

Trippma, Thanks. That was just what I was looking for.

DisplayPort is not your only option for connecting external monitors.
