I'm waiting on an Advance Replacement for my SP2 128. (sleep/Wi-Fi adapter problem) I've spent a fair amount of time installing software and setting my SP2 up and have it pretty much the way I want it. I would rather not have to reinstall and setup everything again. I've read through the threads covering drive imaging problems, but is there a reason why I can't use a generic backup program? Backup to an external drive, install the backup software on the new SP2 and restore my backup. I must be missing something. I would appreciate your comments.

I used paragon 2014 free version and it worked fine. Once the SP is reset to factory and you clean boot, reinstall the backup app and restore the C: drive only.

thank you JimB. That's exactly how I would expect it to work. Some of the similar topic threads made me think I was missing something. I'll use the backup / restore software I use on my desktops.
