Why won't Chrome or Firefox install on my Surface Pro 3?

I love IE but it can't chromecast. Otherwise, IE is my browser of choice.

Offline or web install won't work for me on my sp3. A google search turns up similar cases.

Could be malware if you can't install either. Or your account doesn't have admin privileges.

Malware? How so? I've never had any suspicious behavior on SP3.

Malware is very sneaky. It can wreck your sytem before you realize it's there. What happens if you download it and try installing?

Had to run as administrator - success! Question: Why do I have to do that in first place. Aren't I elevated by default as administrator??

Not necessarily, for some system level apps.
