External Monitor with a big resolution

Hi everyone. I have a widescreen monitor with a resolution of 3440x1440.
I tryed to connect this monitor to surface with this cable
Mini DP su HDMI, Rankie® Placcato Oro Mini DisplayPort(ThunderboltTM Port Compatible) su HDTV HDMI Cavo 6ft: Amazon.it: Elettronica

The problem is that I can't use the monitor with a resolution bigger than 1920x1080

Any ideas?

I changed the prefix on your post title as that's reserved for tutorials rather than a question. I'm not so good with Italian but it appears to me that going with the HDMI connector limits your resolution to 1920x1200 based on the description of that adapter Does the monitor have a display port connection?

Hi, @leeshor is right, that cable supports resolutions up to 1920x1200.
