free software for cpu speed test?

What free software can I get to test out my new i5 sp3? I will be using this mostly for work and communication. No games. So I don't care about gpu.

Not certain what testing you want to do but one of the best free information programs out there is CPU-Z.

That would work. It will tell you a lot about the processor and many other things.

Have you tried the Task Manager? (in case you used to use Windows 7 or earlier, Windows 8 has a fairly more powerful Task Manager)
