I'm new to the Surface Pro, and to Windows 8. I was looking through the store, and was wondering if there was a way to install apps without using the store. I'm not interested in creating a Live account, so maybe I can contact the app developer directly? Or is there another way? Similar to older versions of windows, you can install an .exe file. I'm also wondering if these apps would be as optimized for the tablet as the store apps. Thank you!

The only way to install Modern Apps outside the store is through Side Loading and would require a developer's license and a PowerShell Installer.
