Surface 3/Surface RT charging

When we moved, the charger for my Surface RT got misplaced. It will be found, but in the meantime I was going to order something. Is there a charger which (with different cords) would charge both the Surface 3 and the Surface RT, when I do I'd rather have two chargers for the Surface 3 than two for the RT. Is there something that can go both ways?

I have not seen a pure charger with the necessary options but the higher end battery packs can do both. Some may not come with a Surface compatible cable/connector which is available separately.

The only way to know is to try it. At 2.1A it should in theory be able to charge the S3, how well it works depends on the actual implementation. Other devices I tried with 2.1A ports were hit or miss. I have found that charging the battery packs can be slow so if this is your only charge source you may find it a struggle to keep up.

These 3 battery packs will work. Some people say that 10,000mwAh will net about 5-7 extra hours so judge accordingly. Anything under the 16000mAh version has difficulty charging. These are the newest and best products on the market. If you really want some extra power check out the 2nd and 3rd link. They will work the best and provide a full 0-100% charge for the Surface 3. Also, remember there is a 60-70% efficiency loss so if you want a true 0-100% charge you may want to consider the 20800mAh+ ones. I have the 16000mAh on the way but I really just need an extra 8-10hrs if necessary. Once you start getting into the larger sizes weight becomes an issue. They start being 1-2lbs >20,000mAh. I did a lot of research on reviews, charge rates, mAh, Amperage, and Wattage and these were the best ones I found. There are also reviews on each one that people confirmed the Surface 3 would charge from them.
