Surface Pro 3 as a secondary monitor / input device

Has anyone managed to set up their Surface as a secondary monitor and input device? I found some software that claimed to facilitate this but am a little pessimistic to say the least: http://www.sunnysidesoft.com/
I would like to use my Surface as intended on a night but have the ability to use it as an input device on my main, more powerful machine during the day.
If you have tried this, what sort of delay is there?

There is software that allows it but it isn't a great solution. If that is your primary goal, Wacom makes an Android based Tablet in their Companion Line that allows you to use the Tablet as a Wacom Tablet via USB and an Android Tablet on the go....

Personally I'm not a big fan of Android but I know there are artists using this implementation.
