App font size tiny and I can't make it bigger

I have a Surface Pro 4. I am running WIndows 10 Pro, 1703, build 15063.608
On a few programs/apps the size of the text for the menu's is tiny. The display setting does not allow the app text to be increased. Scaling the display bigger makes no difference to the app text size. Are there are work arounds to this problem???

I was having problems with two apps, but I have resolved one by loading the latest beta version - Meshmixer.
In the other program called 3D Slicer the text within the windows of the program are is overlapped and this is independent of zoom


I will try to ask the authors of slicer for help but would be grateful for any suggestions here
