Having some movies purchased from iTunes store and want to play them on Microsoft Surface Pro? Here you will find an easy way to sync and play iTunes videos on Surface Pro tablet thru your Mac.

As we know, movies, video, TV shows purchased from iTunes stores are locked with Apple's DRM protection. You can only play the media on Apple products like iPhone, iPad, iPod, etc. If you own a Microsoft Surface Pro, you must want to watch the iTunes movies on it since Surface Pro is an outstanding portable digital media player with its 10.6-inch, 1,920 x 1,080 display. However, due to DRM protection, even if you can transfer iTunes movies to Microsoft Surface Pro, you cannot watch them. However, the good news is that there is still a way to play iTunes M4V videos on Surface Pro for Windows 8 tablet by removing DRM protection from iTunes movies and convert M4V to Surface MP4. To ahieve your goal smoothly, below is a simple tutorial for you, guaranteed to get iTunes movies and Microsoft Surface Pro to play nicely.

To get the work done, you have to download an app that you are going to use later. You are recommended to download and install:

ChewTune (available for Windows or for Mac users). Get the Mac version here, and the Windows version here.

The program is an intuitive and stable iTunes Movie DRM converter which can easily handle DRM-protected contents including iTunes, Digital Copies coming with Blu-ray/DVD discs and more. Meanwhile the playback of the converted videos is as decent as possible as original. Just get right version and follow the step-by-step guide below to learn how to put and play iTunes purchased movies on Microsoft Surface Pro without restrictions!

How to Convert DRMed iTunes M4V to Surface Pro DRM-free MP4 videos on Mac

Note: This guide uses ChewTune for Mac screenshots. The way encoding iTunes to Surface Pro on Windows (Windows 8 included) is almost the same.

To use ChewTune for Mac, it is required that iTunes latest version be installed and correctly configured, which means you'll need to

1. Set iTunes not to remember playback position.
2. Set iTunes to 32bit when/if you use ChewTune on Mac OS X Lion

Step 1. Run the Mac iTunes to Surface Converter and click "Add Video" or just drag & drop to import your iTunes files (movies or TV shows) to the program.

Step 1: Run the top Mac iTunes movie DRM Decoder on Mac/Mac Book/Mac BookPro, iMac, and put in password for user account as it requires.

Step 2: Press the "Add" icon to browse to iTunes library movie folder. In Finder window, open Music-> iTunes-> iTunes Media-> specific movie folder-> single .m4v file, and then press on "Choose".

Step 3. Choose the output video format and output folder. Click "Format" bar and move mouse to "Windows" column, you can easily find the profile of "Microsoft Surface Windows RT/Pro H.264 Video (*.mp4)". The output videos could fit on Surface Pro or RT perfectly.

If you like, you can click "Settings" to change the video encoder, resolution, frame rate, etc. as you wish. P.S. For watching videos on the Surface Pro Tablet, 720p with 1500~2500kbps is just all right. I find that bitrate higher results in big file size, and lower visible quality loss.

Step 3. After above steps, just click "Convert" to start removing iTunes DRM protection and converting iTunes M4V to Microsoft Surface Pro MP4 videos on Mac.

As you see, once the process completes, download and transfer the DRM-free iTunes videos from Mac to your Surface Pro Tablet via USB cable and enjoy the movies. If you have no idea about Surface Pro file transfer, you can check out the post The Ways Transferring Files to Your Surface to learn more. Plus, if your movie isn't already in one of the supported formats or it's still on a DVD or a Blu-ray, you can get the Blu-ray Video Converter Ultimate (or the iMedia Converter Mac)which can help you rip Blu-ray/DVD to Surface Pro/RT, and convert various formats of 720p/1080p HD videos in MKV, AVI, TiVo, VOB, MPG, MTS, etc. to your Surface RT or Pro tablets and other Android/iOS/Windows RT (8) based tablets/phones for smoothly playing.
