On 8.1 my Pro keeps dropping wifi :(

This is driving me mad. I hope someone can help me with this.

Since updating to 8.1 my Pro can't seem to stay connected for more than a few minutes.

I've tried the following:

Refresh & reinstall 8.1 - didn't help at all
Reset & reinstall 8.1 - didn't help at all
Manually updated the wifi driver - slight improvement. Instead of 10% functionality it's about 30-40%

Connectivity was perfect with 8.

This is really, really frustrating. I want this to work so much, but it's virtually useless now. I could just give up and reset again and stay on 8, but I really don't want to do that. I don't know what else to try.

Is the wireless driver 14.69.24040.136 ?

Was suggested by a user on WPCentral who said it fixed his Pro's WiFi issues. It DID help a little, but its still awful.
