Question about On Screen Keyboard on S3

I have a simple question about the on screen keyboard and my S3. When I touch the Google Search box using Opera or Chrome, the keyboard automatically opens on screen. When I repeat the process with Firefox or Internet Explorer, to get the keyboard to display I musty tap the keyboard icon. Why the different keyboard behavior?

The Keyboard/Ink API was updated in Windows 8.x, Desktop IE and Firefox haven't written to the new API but Chrome and Opera have. MUI IE does work with the API.

Windows 10 in Tablet Mode (Continuum) has a "SHIM" that enables auto-keyboard that supports must legacy and/or Win32 Applications that haven't written to the new API. In desktop mode the auto-keyboard works the same as the desktop in Windows 8.x.
