Microsoft (MSFT) says pre-order stock of Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 tablets are close to selling out ahead of the Oct. 22 product launch. That sounds impressive except for two variables: First, the software giant has not disclosed how many tablet units it will build for launch. Second, Microsoft in mid-2013 made some less-than-forthcoming statements about Surface sales, only to have the facts undermine CEO Steve Ballmer's leadership. Here's the update.

Here is a good solution to play movies on Microsoft Surface 2. By hacking and converting Blu-ray/DVD movies to Surface 2, in other words, change the Blu-ray DVD disc movies into digital files. What Surface 2 can read and play flawlessly. Then you can take them wherever you go. Below is the details.

Required Software:
Blu-ray Ripper for Surface 2 (Windows version)
Mac Blu-ray Ripper for Surface 2 (Mac version)

PS: The windows version works on Windows XP/2003/Vista/Windows 7/Windows 8. Mac version requires Mac OS X Leopard (10.5) or above.

How-to: Rip Blu-ray DVDs for Surface 2.

Step 1. After installation. Run Blu-ray to Microsoft Surface 2 Converter, click “Blu-ray disc” icon to load Blu-ray movie files directly from your Blu-ray disc via the BD drive. You can also import DVD movies.

Step 3. You are allowed to click “Settings” button and go to “Profile Settings” windows to customize the video quality by adjusting video and audio settings.

To get 1080p videos on Surface 2. Refer to the following parameter。

Codec: h264
Size (pix):1920*1080
Frame Rate (fps): original

Sample Rate (hz):48000
