Static out of speakers HELP

I have had a surface 3 for almost a year now and love it. Recently wiped it clean and installed anniversary update. A few days ago in class another surface 3 had static come out of the speakers uncontrollably and now the same thing happens to me. Doesn't matter what volume is set at or what is running, just blares white static. It is unacceptable and rude in the college environment. Obviously since it happened to another surface in the classroom this isn't just a problem with my device and could happen with a replacement which isn't something I can chance. What are my options? There was another cumulative update released recently. Also make sure to check for updates. There may be a firmware update available that fixes issues with static coming from the speakers.
